Mukul Arya, a diplomat Indian Foreign Service Officer who served as the Indian Ambassador to Palestine

Throughout his short life, Mukul Arya helped young talented people to discover their talent, create beauty, and share it with the world. In his honor and to continue his important mission, "Create" by Mukul's Art Space embodies a single unified platform for artists, content creators, art enthusiasts and art lovers spread across the world coming from all genres.

Mukul was my dear friend, we met in Moscow in 2010, as he gave me a clementine. Since then, we hanged together every day the year we spent together. And actually, the very first day he also met ***, and they connected right away. And since then, the very first day, he talked about ***. with very much compassion. And he learned Russian so fast, not so strange as he was extremely intelligent. He was thinking very fast, too fast for his own good. He was very funny and witty. He had a very fast sense of humor also.He was very gentle and generous. Always invited everyone to his home. He loved his family, his country and Bilja very much. And he was political radical. Quite left wing. He was critical to the caste system, which he, every day, felt was very much present. He was a great analyzer and strategist. He loved to have guests. He had lots of secrets, and was for me an enigma, even though we could talk about everything. He was extremely good looking, I remember my mother was extremely charmed. He cared about other people, and he was a man with many worlds inside of him, that was at least my impression❤️

Some people create art. Others create possibilities. Mukul Arya did both. 🕊️

Mukul wasn't just a diplomat; he was a dreamer, a supporter, and a believer in the power of creativity. He spent his life helping talented people find their voice and share their light with the world.

Though he left us too soon, on March 3, 2022, his mission didn't end. It transformed.

This profile, this community, is his legacy. It's a place where his spirit of support and inspiration lives on. We are here to continue what he started.

This is for you, Mukul. Thank you for inspiring us to create.

I first met Mukul while studying Russian in Moscow. We formed a close friendship, along with *** lasted throughout our time there.

Mukul was a kind soul, with a warm heart, that accepted everyone for who they are.

One special memory - I was in Delhi for one night. In his busy day, he took the time to meet and welcome me to India.

What a great person. I will miss him dearly.

Mukul: I did not realise my life would change the day I met him. I mean, I was begging UNESCO for three months to sign an ART residency paper for me, just a signature. Just when I was about to give up, I had Mukul on the call and he said can you come over, he not only signed the paper in less than two hours but also apologised on behalf of the whole UNESCO for treating artists so poorly. The next day he came home for dinner and stayed until 6am. After that we never stopped meeting each other. He became an exceptionally close friend and an integral part of our lives (me and my family) and he loved me sharing this story with everyone! :)

Mukul was not of this world, he came from somewhere else, his magnanimous aura and soft heart was unmatchable. He was so eloquent, generous, always came bearing gifts and a huge smile. He lightened hard situations and heard everyone’s problems and grief and never burdened another with his own!

I miss him everyday, but I know he is meant to be among the stars doing bigger things and I wish him nothing but LOVE and immense PEACE. I know he is shining so bright wherever he is and yet I feel him inside me Everytime I need him or his precious advice!❤️🙏☺️

Mukul wasn’t just my brother — he was my best friend. At times, he was like a mother, sometimes a father.
We fought as children, shared toys, had the same group of friends, and looked so alike that people often mistook us for twins. But Mukul was exceptional — brilliant at everything he did: studies, sports, social skills, and more.

We grew up inseparably. While I began working and travelling, Mukul pursued his education at some of India’s most prestigious institutions. Eventually, we both found ourselves working in the same city, commuting together, sharing music, films, and our love for literature and art. Many of my favourite books — like The Stranger by Camus and Catch-22 by Joseph Heller — were ones Mukul brought home and insisted I read.

Evenings were our time. After work, we’d unwind with web series or songs, projected on our wall — a shared ritual that meant the world to us.

When Mukul passed, he left behind a void no words can ever fully express.

To honour his memory and bring his spirit to life, I started Mukul’s Art Space in Jaipur, Rajasthan — an art studio and dining space dedicated to creativity, community, and connection.

"Create" by Mukul’s Art Space is our second endeavour to carry forward Mukul’s legacy — a space brought to life with the support and vision of dear friends and artists: Biljana, Poonam, Amelie, Ewie, Christian, Mukul, Kamal, Mitali, Dragana, Toto, Kiran,Natalia, Aleksandra, Kseniya, Natasha-Sergey, Kunal and many others who have been part of this journey.

This is more than a project. It is an act of love.
It is a way of keeping Mukul alive — through art, through creation, through all of us.

With love,
Varun

Who was Mukul Arya?
There are people who come into this world for a reason. Unfortunately, their life path on earth is very short, but when they leave this world, they leave behind something priceless, something endless, something eternal.

Kindness, love, intelligence, sacrifice, honesty, warmth—these are the gifts they offer during their lives, qualities that not every person on this planet possesses.
One such person was Mukul Arya. The essence of people like him is kindness and modesty—what sets them apart from others, what they carry from their home, the upbringing that not everyone can claim.

Mukul Arya was not just a man; he was not just a son, brother, lover, friend, buddy, or colleague... he was everything! He was everything and will remain so forever.
The good he did for people, the help he gave to the weakest—this is what makes him a great man.

People all over the world who met him, even for a moment, remember him; they remember his deeds, his kindness. One second spent with him remains in the heart as an indelible mark, and his name, his legacy, is a story that will be passed down from generation to generation. A part of his kindness and wisdom lives on in everyone he touched with his life. He changed the world around him, and those changes will remain with us.
His actions, his smile, his voice, his warmth—all of this lives with us forever.

Who was Mukul Arya?

Mukul Arya was woven from kindness; he was the kind of person many would aspire to become, but he was unique and inimitable, and he will live forever.

Mukul Arya did not merely perform good deeds—kindness was his very essence, the fabric of his being. Compassion, honesty, selflessness, a brilliant mind—these are qualities possessed by only a few. He showed by his example what a person can be.

Mukul Arya was unique; he is an ideal, a symbol of goodness and humanity. And ideals, as we know, are immortal.
Mukul Arya left behind a bright and indelible mark.
Live forever!

P.S. Who, if not you…
